Bischoff Performance Improvement Consulting is a woman owned small business, founded in 1990 by Dr. B.J. Bischoff.
Since our founding, we have trained teams, facilitated workshops, designed and implemented program evaluations, provided fund development services, created organizational planning strategies and provided program management for hundreds of international nonprofits, educational institutions corporations, and government agencies.
Our philosophy is to work with you to assess organizational needs, formulate responses to identified needs, and implement necessary changes. We will guide you through the phases of process improvement to insure successful outcomes and sustained change.

Dr. B.J. Bischoff
Owner and Founder
Dr. B.J. Bischoff is the owner of Bischoff Performance Improvement Consulting, a firm located in Sonoma, California USA. For 30 years, she has developed performance improvement strategies to impact organizational change.
Dr. Bischoff specializes in managing change management projects. She has assisted United Healthcare/Golden Rule Insurance Co. to adopt best-in-class practices for its new Learning and Development Center. For four years, she worked with the Executive Leadership of Butler University’s College of Business Administration and the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences on organizational development improvement initiatives. Dr. Bischoff assists not-for-profit organizations to achieve their fund development goals through strategic planning and grant proposal development.
She has facilitated planning sessions for over 250 nonprofit and government-funded organizations. She is a featured columnist for the Sonoma Valley Sun, writing a monthly column called "Nonprofit Matters." She is a founding member of Impact100 Sonoma and a member of the Sonoma County Upstream Portfolio Review Committee.
Sarah Stierch
Research Director
Sarah Stierch has facilitated and planned meetings, and engaged in capacity building for international groups of nonprofit staff and volunteers involved in knowledge sharing technologies and program evaluation, most notably the Wikimedia Foundation, Ada Initiative, and the Open Knowledge Foundation. She has facilitated meetings related to open knowledge dissemination in Berlin, Cambridge, London, Budapest, Amsterdam, Hong Kong, Washington, D.C., New York, San Francisco, Seattle, and Portland, Oregon.
Through Bischoff Performance Improvement Consulting, Stierch provides fund development consulting and program planning assistance to a variety of nonprofit clients in Sonoma County, California, including WillMar Family Grief & Healing Center, La Luz Center, Mentor Me Petaluma, Petaluma Arts Center, Sonoma Valley Mentoring Alliance, Santa Rosa City Schools, CASA of Sonoma County, DirectEmployers Foundation, and Forget Me Not Children’s Services.
Stierch earned her MA in Museum Studies (Nonprofit Administration Concentration) from George Washington University and a BA in Native American Studies from Indiana University. Stierch served as the first Susan B. Miller Fellow at the University of California’s Berkeley Center for New Media in the Spring of 2014. She is a former member of the Board of Directors for the Fort Ross Conservancy in Sonoma County, California and serves on the Advisory Board for Wikimedia District of Columbia. Stierch also serves as the Food & Drink Editor at the Sonoma Valley Sun.
